Highlights:
  1. Applications are invited for a one-year postdoctoral fellowship to study lyotropic liquid crystal behaviour under non-ambient conditions. 
  2. The project will be supervised by Professor Duncan Bruce and Dr Martin Bates and is sponsored by METRC and an industrial company.
  3. You will develop new codes to enable simulation of liquid crystals for drilling applications. 
  4. Key accountabilities include development of a molecular dynamics code and associated models to investigate the use of liquid crystals as loss circulation fluids and running simulations and determining phase behaviour of loss circulation fluids.

Postdoctoral position in green chemistry at University of York

Highlights:
  1. Applications are invited for Postdoctoral Research position in Green Chemistry at Department of Chemistry, University of York.
  2. The successful applicant will be expected to make a significant contribution to the research work in the Group in the area of biorefineries and green chemistry.
  3. The research will be in the area of the chemical exploitation of waste biomass and especially in the use of novel low temperature microwave activation to produce useful chemicals, fuels and materials.
  4. The post holder will be expected to show research leadership in this area including project management, staff and student supervision, the preparation of reports, publications and proposals and advising the Director on strategic matters.
  5. The project will involve close working with other members of the Green Chemistry group and with external collaborators including industry.
  6. The post is available for a period of 2 years in the first instance.
