Fellowship for Masters degree in defence management

PhD position in Health science


Highlights:
  1. Applications are invited for a full-time studentship at the University of Bath (starting October 2010).
  2. The research will take a theory-based approach to exploring the potential to translate strategies found to be successful in reducing smoking prevalence in the UK, to tackling obesity. With obesity levels continually rising, this studentship provides the opportunity to conduct novel and original research in an important and highly topical area. In particular, the research will explore how current social policies to promote physical activity and a healthy diet are perceived and interpreted with respect to motivation for behaviour change. The research will take an interdisciplinary approach combining psychological and social policy perspectives.
  3. The successful applicant will conduct their research within the School for Health and the UK Centre for Tobacco Control Studies under the academic supervision of Dr Fiona Gillison and Professor Linda Bauld.

PhD position in Organic chemistry, France

Highlights:
  1. Within the Marie Curie Initial Training Network BioChemLig, we are offering a PhD position for a period of 3 years (start 11-12/2010) to research on new ligation reactions discovery.
  2. Candidates who are interested to join the BioChemLig project will be involved in the design and identification, with the help of high throughput screening methods, of new cross-coupling reactions. The PhD fellow will participate in an integrative research project using a panel of methodologies including organic synthesis, high throughput screening, immunoanalysis, ligation of macromolecules and nanoparticules.
  3. The PhD fellow will also receive comprehensive training in various fields such as combinatorial chemistry, immunoassays techniques, molecular modeling and nanobiotechnology.
  4. Applicant must have a diploma giving access to doctoral studies. Experience of working in a laboratory environment and interdisciplinary thinking are highly desirable.

Postdoctoral position in organometallic chemistry 2010

Highlights:
  1. An opportunity exists for a postdoctoral research fellowship in the department of Chemistry and Polymer Science, Stellenbosch University, South Africa
  2. The position is in the Organometallic Research group. The research to be undertaken involves the development of new homogeneous catalysts immobilized on mesoporous supports as well as on dendrimers.
  3. The evaluation of these materials in catalytic transformations of unsaturated hydrocarbons will form a central part of the research.
  4. Requirement: PhD (must have graduated within the last five years).
  5. Experience in synthetic organometallic chemistry, catalysis, dendrimer chemistry and the preparation of mesoporous materials would be an advantage. Hands-on experience with a range of analytical techniques especially those used to characterize solid materials would be an added advantage.
