Postdoctoral position at University of Georgia

Highlights:
  1. The University of Georgia is seeking a highly-motivated full-time postdoctoral research associate to develop a high-throughput transformation and regeneration system for American chestnut trees.
  2. The successful candidate will work as a team member in the UGA School of Forestry and Natural Resources as part of a multi-institutional project applying biotechnology for American chestnut restoration. 
  3. The incumbent will design and conduct laboratory experiments in the area of somatic embryogenesis and efficient production of transgenic trees. 
  4. Responsibilities include data collection and analysis, preparation of reports, manuscripts and presentations and supervision of undergraduate and graduate students.
  5. Minimum qualifications are a Ph.D. in plant biology, horticulture, forestry or related area and publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Expertise in woody plant tissue culture is preferred and experience with plant molecular biology techniques will be considered positively. This appointment is for a fixed term of one year with renewal possible.
