Postdoctoral associate position in organic synthesis at Department of Chemistry, Korea University

Highlights:
  1. I have an immediate opening for a postdoctoral associate (organic synthesis) in my research group. The stipend ranges from 2.2 to 2.5 million Korean won per month depending on the experience. The position is for a duration of one year with an opportunity to extend for the second year.
  2. The project is aimed towards the synthesis of two-photon probes for biological imaging. There is much interest in the application of two-photon microscopy in biological and medical research.
  3. However, the progress in this field is limited by the lack of efficient two-photon probes for specific applications. We have recently initiated a project by developing two-photon probes and utilization of such probes in various applications (see for example, Acc. Chem. Res. 2009, 42, 863; JACS, 2010, 132, 1216; ACIE, 2010, 49, 364).
  4. We have excellent facilities including tunable femtosecond laser and two-photon microscopy. Once the probes are synthesized, the spectroscopic and bio-imaging studies can be performed in collaboration with our graduate students. It will be rewarding because this is a new and challenging area with possibilities of many important applications.

Postdoctoral in Computational Chemistry

Highlights:
1.      Several post-doctoral positions are available at the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) in the Henkel ICIQ Joint Unit.
2.      You will work in a highly dynamic and international team on industrial relevant computational studies of reaction mechanisms, mainly in homogeneous catalysis.
3.      The work will be supervised by Prof. Feliu Maseras. (http://www.iciq.es/portal/352/default.aspx). Henkel, the world market leader in adhesives, sealants and surface technologies, is known for innovative chemistry and materials as the backbone of its product lines. Henkel products address many important markets, such as the automotive and electronics industries as well as craftsmen and consumers.
4.      Requirements for the candidate:
a.       Ph.D. degree in chemistry or material sciences.
b.      Experience in computational chemistry with DFT and DFT/MM methods.

Postdoctoral in Organic Synthesis

Highlights:
  1. A postdoctoral position is available in Amiens (France). This position is proposed by the two CNRS chemistry laboratories settled in Amiens: the UMR 6007 (Laboratoire de Réactivité et de Chimie des Solides, one of the leader in Li-ion batteries researches) and the UMR 6219 (Laboratoire des Glucides, specialized in the transformation of biomass products).
    UMR6007 : www.u-picardie.fr/labo/lrcs UMR 6219 : www.u-picardie.fr/labo/LG/
  2. In the course of our researches about the development of new possibilities for the storage of energy in order to reduce the environmental impact of existing technologies, we are proposing a postdoctoral position (12 months, renewable).
  3. The aim is to prepare new organic materials starting from renewable resources in order to develop electrodes for Li-ion batteries able to compete with the available inorganic materials generally used.
  4. We need a skilled organic chemist, with a strong motivation to succeed and a real wish to add to his background strong knowledge in the field of Li-ion batteries, a really hot and rewarding topic today.

Postdoctoral research position 2011

Highlights:
1.      All applications materials must be received by September 24, 2010. Interviews will be conducted in January 2011. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified of the status of their application by January 31, 2011. Funds are available for Fellows to start anytime between March and September 2011.
2.      The Society for Conservation Biology is pleased to solicit applications for the David H. Smith Conservation Research Fellowship Program. These Fellowships enable outstanding early-career scientists based at a United States institution to improve and expand their research skills while directing their efforts towards problems of pressing conservation concern for the United States. The Program especially encourages individuals who want to better link conservation science and theory with pressing policy and management applications to apply.
3.      We envision that the cadre of scientists supported by the Smith Fellows Program eventually will assume leadership positions across the field of conservation science. Fellows are selected on the basis of innovation, potential for leadership and strength of proposal.
4.      Smith post-doctoral Fellows will be awarded two years of support for applied research in the field of biological conservation. Fellowship applicants must have received their doctorate within the last five years, demonstrate high potential for innovative research and leadership in their field, and propose a research plan that creatively and effectively addresses a pressing conservation question. Each
5.      Fellow is mentored by both an academic sponsor who encourages the Fellow's continued development as a conservation scientist, and a conservation practitioner who helps to connect the Fellow and her/his research to practical conservation challenges. Fellows must secure sponsorship from an academic sponsor at an institution in the United States well-suited to carrying out the proposed research. Each fellow will choose a field mentor with expertise and experience in “on-the-ground” application of conservation science and who is associated with a government agency, nongovernmental organization, or other conservation organization.
6.      Applicants who arrange for mentors and research sites before submission of their application provide the review panel with strong evidence of initiative and leadership, and help to ensure that proposed research is relevant to conservation practices.
