Doctoral Scholarships at Massey University

Highlights:
1. All applicants for the Massey University Doctoral Scholarships are considered for the Vice-Chancellor's Scholarships. The Vice Chancellor's Scholarships are awarded on academic ranking to the top students.
2. Purpose Doctoral Scholarships are offered for the purpose of encouraging postgraduate research at Massey University and are awarded on academic ranking.

3. Up to ten Vice-Chancellor's Doctoral Scholarships are offered each year. Priority will be given to domestic students.

4. Up to thirty Doctoral Scholarships are offered each year to applicants with a high Honours degree.

5. The awarding of any Doctoral Scholarship is discretionary and is dependent upon funding.

6. Eligibility:

a. The Doctoral Scholarships are open to persons who are enrolled or eligible to enrol full-time for a research paper of 120 credits during a 12 month period towards a Doctoral degree at Massey University.

b. A full-time candidate will be expected to work 40 - 50 hours per week on their Doctoral qualification. Part-time applicants are not eligible. Applicants already holding a PhD are not eligible to apply.

c. Consideration will normally only be given to students with a GPA of 7.0 or better (on a 9 point scale), or an A- average or better in graduate level papers.


Postdoctoral Position in asymmetric catalysis Chemistry

Highlights:
1. Applications are invited for one Post-doctoral Associate position to work in the research group of Professor Paolo Melchiorre at the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) in Tarragona (Spain) http://www.iciq.es/

2. Projects: Asymmetric Organocatalytic Cascade Reactions to Achieve Molecular and Stereochemical Complexity.

3. The candidates should have a strong background in: organic synthesis, spectroscopy (UV-Vis, NMR, IR) and chromatography (GC, HPLC, TLC and Flash chromatography).

4. Good skills in asymmetric catalysis and anaerobic and anhydrous schlenk techniques are a plus.

5. Knowledge related to organocatalysis will also be appreciated.

6. As a Post-doctoral Associate, you are expected to oversee the training and development of junior group members and organizing weekly Goruop Meeting.

7. You will be in charge of a research project and demanded to write scientific reports and manuscripts summarizing your accomplishment.
